There are a lot of reasons why the South Hamilton area is such a great place to live, work and raise a family. You can see it in how much we care about our community and each other.

As proud as we are of what we have accomplished together, it is now time to work together to retain a summer activity for the South Hamilton Community to enjoy for years to come. Plans are being developed to replace our existing Jewell Swimming Pool.

It’s all about FAMILY, FUN AND FITNESS. South Hamilton area residents are being asked to step forward to help make wonderful memories of summer days by replacing the swimming pool. Nothing is more refreshing than a dip on a hot day — for children, young adults, parents and grandparents.

A swimming pool is a wholesome, controlled environment where parents know their kids will be safe on a summer day. They can learn to swim, gaining potentially life saving skills, and have fun with their friends. A swimming pool provides opportunities for all of us to increase much-needed physical activity and outdoor time in our lives.

Additionally, an improved pool will be an asset to Jewell and the surrounding communities. In 2018 and 2019 the Iowa Economic Development Authority conducted research to understand the factors that motivate individuals to visit and move to a town. The top 5 factors influencing a decision to move were Job Opportunities, Natural landscapes, Cost of Living/Housing Costs, Recreational Opportunities and Low Crime Rate. We are lucky to have Little Wall Lake in our midst, and this pool would be another attraction that helps to keep our town growing rather than shrinking.
